One super cool deal to let your relatives and friends know of a once in a lifetime upcoming celebration is by using
save the date magnets. For those of you who have no clue what I am getting at, these magnets are sent in lieu of the traditional save the date card, which is usually put up on the icebox by an extra magnet regardless!
Some people relegate these magnets as a way to communicate to folks that the date for a very special event has been set and that it is very crucial that they save this particular date. As you may already know these save the date magnets are not usually used in place of the formal RSVP, but simply for making sure the most important folks in your life know about your event immediately. Also they are spectacular for reminding those you will invite about your wedding throughout the days before the event.
The more typical use of the save the date magnet is for when you're getting married. Weddings don't come once every year for us like birthdays-we'd go broke if they did-so it is important to get the date set and the details out to your party peeps right now. It is a once in a lifetime event (or should be) and it would be awful if a favorite invitee made plans for the Carribean because they didn't know you were getting married the same weekend! Of course, one option would be to have them come to your wedding and then they let you have their vacation for your honeymoon! Moving on, printing up the formal invitations and cards can take a long time, especially if you worry about how they turn out and if they look good. So the best thing to do is order up some save the date magnets and post them quickly. When your invitees attain them, most likely they will stick them on their fridge and they will see it a lot. They can't forget your wedding now! Eventually you can send off your actual invitations, and even print that on the save the date magnet: "Formal Invitation To Follow."
Another great use for these magnets is for special birthdays (the decades, 21, etc.). With this case, they can serve as the actual invitation also. Just remember to put your RSVP phone number and/or email in the RSVP. Perhaps wording like, "Please RSVP to 867-5309 or fkrvxvxvxfn@emailz.com or we'll cry!" would work in making sure people actually answer!
Now, these save the date magnets can be used for just about any special celebration you have around the corner. There's no reason why they wouldn't work for a a special Christmas party, a retirement party, an engagement party, and so on and so on. And since there are so many designs and styles to choose from, you should have no bother finding exactly what blends in with your particular special occasion!
If you theme it accordingly and get them out in a timely manner, your soon to be invited people will let you know how helpful your save the date magnets are. And you'll be able to breathe a deep sigh of relief you finished your very first step in your long journey of planning your event. Have a ball making them. Just make sure your
save the date magnets fit with your expressive style!
